Founding
North Carolina and South Carolina were both technically founded together. They were founded by eight men that got a charter from King Charles II in 1663. This colony was founded for economic opportunity. The colonies were split into to later on in the year of 1712. This was because the Northern and Southern regions were very different from each other.

Government
South Carolina had a government system of laws and self government, and a form of republicanism. Republicanism had values of liberty and not full power in the political standpoint. It influences residents of South Carolina to be a loyal and civil colony. The government did have its fair share of fights with Indians and arguments about the ports and outposts.
Geography
South Carolina is the second to furthest down colony of the Southern Colonies region above Georgia. North Carolina is located near South Carolina. South Carolina is located along the Atlantic coast. South Carolina was known for it's fertile soil, for the slave plantations were a big producer of crops.
Economy
There were very rich people that owned a lot of land in this region. These people also had many slaves and servants. The slaves would do all the work, like farming, for them and the servants would raise their kids and do all of the work around the house. They also had house parties and because they lived so far away from each other the parties would last for weeks. Since their houses were so big they had enough room to host everyone. South Carolina relied more on the growth of tobacco and rice.
Religion
South Carolina was open to all religions. Many forms of Christianity occurred in South Carolina, but Jews also lived here. Yet, all religions worked well within the community. Churches were all over the place in South Carolina!

George Whitefield was a religious celebrity in South Carolina, for creating the "First Great Awakening". John Archdale, a very loyal and faithful Quaker, became governor in 1695, and was very popular among the people. They thought he was wise and made smart decisions, for they were happy.
